Drive against ILP defaulters on, 22 repatriated
ITANAGAR, May 23: A total of 22 persons were arrested for not possessing ILPs today and brought before the Executive Magistrate at the office of the Deputy Commissioner Itanagar Capital Complex. Later, all the accused were externed out of the state through the Banderdewa check gate. The ILP checking drive is being carried out by the Capital Administration and the police to check the entry of illegal immigrants. DIPRO
At Longding, a total of 23 persons were detained from Longding town for not possessing Inner Line Permit (ILP) during checking drive conducted by Longding District Students’ Union (LDSU) along with the local Police today. Among the 23, five persons were found with fake ILP documents. Later, all the defaulting persons were produced before the local judicial court for legal actions, according to a release. Meanwhile, LDSU strictly warned all outsiders not to enter in the district without valid ILP documents.

ITANAGAR, May 23: Reacting strongly to the news report published in this daily under headline “When lawmaker turns law breaker”, some supporters of Raga MLA today refuted the claimed that they illegally occupied Bungalow no 2 at Senki View. In a press statement the supporters stated that they had already applied for said bungalow after occupant had shifted to his residence. “After receiving rumour of intrusion attempt by some group, we inspected the bungalow and in the meantime police arrived,” they clarified. Meanwhile when contacted by this daily Raga MLA denied of any involvement in the incident. He further clarified that he did not aware of the incident.

Committee for allotment of Bungalows
ITANAGAR, May 23: The state Govt has requested all the MLAs to refrain from occupation of the Bungalows without prior approval and allotment order, according to an official release.
“Of late it has been seen that some MLAs have occupied the Bungalows located at Niti Vihar and Senki Park, Itanagar without any proper allotment which is illegal,” the release said while informing that a committee is being constituted for allotment of the Bungalows on seniority/need basis.
It was reported in this daily on Friday that even before taking the oath of office, many MLAs have already occupied Govt bungalows without obtaining order from concern authorities.

IGP visits Tezu, takes stock of law and order
ITANAGAR, May 23: IGP N. Payeng visited Tezu on Wednesday and reviewed the law & order arrangement. While reviewing the law and order situation, the police officer observed that arrangement for maintaining law and order made by the district police is up to satisfactory. Round the clock patrolling and checking has been going on since May 17. The District administration too has detailed sufficient number of magistrates along with police party round the clock, according to an official release.
It is worth mentioning here that Tezu was in news recently after 29 houses were set on fire at Tezu Kholla area of Tezu in Lohit district allegedly by some miscreants on the intervening night of May 17 and 18. However, there was no report of any loss of life. Most of the thatched huts, except three, were empty at the time of the incident. On receipt of the information of the fire incident at PS Tezu the night duty officer immediately sent the fire service team to control the fire. The team doused the fire at around 2 am and prevented it from spreading to other areas. A case has been registered vide Tezu PS Case No. 35/2014 U/S 436/34 IPC in this regard and the investigation is in progress, the release said.
Again on May 20 at around 1335 hrs another fire incident took place at Tezu Khola where in a hut caught fire inspite of police patrolling. However, fire tender arrived at the spot immediately and doused the fire. As per the PO, it appears to be handy works of some miscreants. The investigation officer has been directed to make all out efforts to detect the case.
After the fire incidents, the DM has imposed 144 CrPC from 2100 hrs to 0500 hrs since May 18. However, timing of 144 CrPC was reduced from 2300 hrs to 0400 hrs with effect from yesterday with improvement of law and order situation, the release added.
Tezu has been having reputation of being a most peaceful district HQ since long. All the citizens of Tezu Township are requested to assist district administration and police in maintaining peace to enable DM to lift the prohibitory order at the earliest, the IGP said.

Police arrests one in mysterious girl death case
ITANAGAR, May 23: Itanagar police has arrested a person alleged to be involved in the mysterious death of one Aroti Mize at RK Mission Hospital here on Wednesday.
Alleging that the accused is directly involved in the death of the girl in its letter to the Capital DC, the Adi Banne Kebang Youth Wing has sought his capital punishment. Further fearing that the accused may be bailed out soon, the association further appealed for not granting bail to the accused.
Jering Matkir Society (JMS) in a letter to the SP urged him to expedite the investigation and book the culprit(s) under appropriate section of law and detain the culprit till justice is done to the deceased.
Suspecting foul play on the episode, it alleged that the deceased was brutally assaulted.
The accused had changed her name as Sumpi Borang in the hospital register with an ulterior motive to conceal the facts, the letter read.

Expressing concern over the repeated atrocities against women in Capital Complex, Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) also urged the concerned authority to book the culprits involved in the incident as soon as possible and award exemplary punishment as per the law.

Shameful act of our leaders
Dear editor,
This is in response to the report published in today’s edition of your daily under the headline “when lawmaker turns law breaker”. After reading it, I felt ashamed as youth of Arunachal Pradesh. Leaders are like our parents and we elect them trusting that state will be safe in their hand.
But what the hell is going in our state. It is so shameful to know that losing MLAs even did not spare light bulbs & fans when vacating the bungalow. What we will call them, leader or thief? I think there is no difference.
So, my request to our public is please always judge before voting. We Arunachalees need better leader for healthier tomorrow. I also wish that the authorities take action against such illegal leader, so that they don’t repeate same act in future.

Sense of security lacking in NERIST

I being one of the local public of Nirjuli area would like to ink following few lines
regarding the repeated theft and robbery incident happening in the premier technical
institute of the state, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology
(NERIST) Nirjuli. All such incidents clearly indicate that security service of NERIST
is not up-
The private security agency including the security officers who are on deputation from other departments are unable to create sense of security to the NERIStian. The famous ATM robbery from duty check point post of the NERIST security agency is ample to exemplify the services being rendered by present security agency of the campus wherein in a broad day light the ATM robbery was carried out by the miscreants in front of the security guards while they were on duty.
Therefore, it is my sincere appeal to the President NERIST Society i.e. His Excellency the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh to take necessary action for termination of the present security team of the NERIST and call afresh tender to absorb other security agency who could sincerely provide security services to the campus, so that the NERSTians as well as the neighbour public of the area could get a sigh of relief.

Wrong example
Though election is over, battle for bungalow has begun among newly elected MLAs of state. They have not been administered oath of secrecy yet but virtual rat race is being observed among them to occupy official bungalows being vacated by those ministers and MLAs who lost in the assembly election. Many of the MLAs have occupied bungalows by pasting notices claiming it to be theirs. According to the authorities such shameful acts by elected legislators are complete violation of laid down norms.
